The 12th Heidelberg Laureate Forum has officially begun!
On Sunday, September 14, the Opening Ceremony of the 12th HLF took place in the New Auditorium of Heidelberg University.
Check out the video above for some snapshots of the day’s events!
200 young researchers in mathematics and computer science from over 50 nations around the world were in attendance, as were 28 laureates of the most distinguished prizes in those disciplines.
Agnes Szmolenszky, Executive Director and Member of the Board of the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation, spoke about the importance of the next generation of young researchers, such as those represented at the Forum:
“Our role at the Foundation is to provide opportunities, networks, and encouragement so their curiosity can truly flourish. The HLF is not just a once-in-a-lifetime experience – it’s the beginning of a community they can carry with them throughout their careers. It’s a joy to see the projects, big and small, that emerge from the connections made at the Forum.
There is no science without society – without public understanding and appreciation of its value. Our young researchers will be our ambassadors, sharing the excitement of science with the public and helping us strengthen trust in science.”
